This years Lions Candy Day was
absolutely critical to the many blind, visually impaired, deaf and
hearing-impaired children and adults, who depend, rely and partake
of the wonderful programs being administered by your local Lions
Club here in Washington, Illinois. Candy Day was Friday and
Saturday October 14th and 15th. Because of generous
contributions of so many local businesses and individuals, the
Washington Lions Club has been able to help so many "needy" in our
community in the past. Many individuals now have eye glasses and
hearing aids that they otherwise could not have afforded. We had a
good turnout and again Thanks to all those that were involved. The
local club has also purchased large print reading materials for the
Washington Community Library.
With some very special assistance
from two good Samaritans (Payton Benedict age 7 and Carter Benedict
age 6) the 2011 Washington Lions Candy Days were even more sucessful!!
A special thanks to all that assisted with the drive and also to
those that contributed to the fund.

Up Coming Activity of our Lions Club

We have picked the garbage from our ditches along our
portion highway that we have
adopted once this calendar year. This is section is an extremely visible area that most visitors to
Washington will see. I suspect the State of Illinois assigned up
this section because they were confident that our club would do an
outstanding job in maintaining the cleanliness of this prime section of
roadway.
